Rights of Women – Group Award Nomination – 2015

For 40 years Rights of Women has worked and campaigned to secure access to justice for all women affected by violence. From the campaign to make rape in marriage a crime in the early 1980s through to working with government to develop new civil and criminal law remedies in relation to forced marriage and prostitution in the 2000s Rights of Women has helped to shape law and legal policy to tackle violence against women. Since 1975 their frontline advice and information services have also provided vital and lifesaving specialist legal advice and support to women ensuring their access to the legal remedies the law affords them and enabling them to make safe decisions about their futures.
