Virtual College has worked in partnership with Julie Rimington for 5 years on various projects; initially through the Lincolnshire Safeguarding Children Board, where she gave up a lot of her spare time to help create innovative ways of raising awareness of domestic abuse.
Through her charity work with KADA – a charity she set up to help children deal with domestic abuse – she has used innovative training methods using simulated “babies” to demonstrate to seminar delegates the effects of shaken baby and FAS on babies.
Julie has more recently worked on developing Smartphone Apps to raise awareness on domestic abuse; for victims; a further app is for perpetrators aimed at helping them manage behaviours and one for children. A twitter campaign to raise awareness of the apps attracted a following of over 100,000 people in the first few days of release.
