Daughters of Eve – Group Award Nominee – 2012

Daughters of Eve is a non-profit organisation that works to protect and empower girls and young women who are at risk or affected female genital mutilation (FGM). The organisation was set up by three FGM survivors who saw a gap in services for young British women and girls affected or at risk of FGM and since 2010, when it was founded, they have helped thousands of young women and girls on limited to no funding.

Daughters of Eve have been the first organisation to work on FGM with the violence against women and girls framework, support and empowering not just young people but also professional and the wider community to understand FGM roots are in patriarchy.

Daughters of Eve’s work has been covered in a number of media outlets and now the NSPCC is on board to mainstream the issue into their work, the organisation is working to get political coverage and are working to directly speak to senior Ministers.
